Upon landing in Nepal airport, hotel staff carrying my name on a piece of paper was already waiting and that’s for free!. The drive to Backyard hotel was great, I was already amazed and overwhelmed by how different Thamel is from the rest of all the places I’ve been to. I cannot wrap everything in my head about all the arts, culture and everything about Thamel. Then another surprise, I was upgraded to a suite room for my 1st night!. Backyard hotel looks new and well maintained. Everyone in Backyard hotel was very accomodating, friendly and homey. Right away they helped me with my big bag and A cup coffee was served upon my request, for free!. Initially, my plan was to stay just for 1 night before I head to Pohkara but this hotel is like home, I decided to extend another night. Jimmy, the chef cooks the best Mo-mo (dimsum) ever. We even went to a local party club the 2nd night. I was really having a great time. Then the next day, April25th, the earthquake happened. I was in my room at the 4th floor, rushed to the ground floor together with other guests. The hotel staffs were there to guide us. It was a tough night but I managed to make it, I slept at the reception area and felt safe, the building is still standing with no hints of what had happened, everything was intact. The next day I decided to camp on open field as advised. This was were I could say I have met the best hotel staff, morever brothers in my life. I was with Gopi, Siri and Jimmy in the tent. They were very helpful and treated me like one of their real brothers. We eat together, drink together and sleep together.

I found a flight out of Nepal on April28th. It was so hard to leave. These Brothers I found in Nepal will always be dear to me. I will never forget how they stayed with me through that difficult situation. I will be back to Nepal this October – November.

I highly recommend Backyard hotel to anyone who’ll stay in Thamel. It is located close to all the sites, shops, restaurants. It was clean, comfortable and very strong building. Most importantly, the staff, the ones who called me brother. They will make you feel at home in Nepal.

Let’s help Nepal be back on its feet, let’s visit Nepal!!!!

Stayed April 2015, traveled solo

When we arrived in Kathmandu, we booked at the backyard hotel for one night. Our experience was so good that we decided to stay 5 nights before our trek, and 7 nights after taking our trek, while waiting to take our plane back to Canada. The staff was 10/10 and at first, our plan was to book a trek for the annapurna when we arrive in Pokhara, but Siri, the manager, give us such a good service that we decide to book our trek with the backyard hotel, and we never regret it. We feel safe with them and our guide, Nokul, was so nice and helpful during the whole trek (10 days).

I really hope everybody from the backyard hotel are OK after the earthquake. All our thoughs are with you and the Nepalese people, who welcome us in their beautiful country and makes us feel like we were at home.

I was very relieved to see my name on a sign when I arrived at night at KTM. The driver AND concierge were waiting to take us, for free, to the hotel.

The best part of our visit to Nepal, however, was trekking with Kishor Ranamagor. He is a good man and an excellent guide. I’d recommend him to anyone interested in a trekking experience.

• The hotel is located in the middle of Thamel. It was convenient to visit many sightseeing spots in Kathmandu. There was little traffic in front of the hotel, so we could sleep well during the night. The staffs were friendly and kind. They helped us make our travel plan. When we decided to go on a trip to Pokhara, they arranged our airplane tickets and hotel at a reasonable price. Thanks to them, we could spend very wonderful time in Nepal. We will never forget their hospitality.

The motive and my writing is to thank both management and the staff for the time reicbido during my estacia for fifteen days in Katmandhu , I felt tanbien care and treatment that felt like home from the front desk to the security guard and the cleaning staff , for all that if someone visits Nepal or hesitate to visit this hotel which also is located in the heart of Khamel - thanks
